Welcome to Lapland – we’re waiting for you!
Day 1: "Let the Arctic Adventure Begin" – From Barcelona to the Heart of Lapland Your magical journey starts at the airport, where Catai staff will assist with your check-in. Board your direct flight to Rovaniemi, the official capital of Finnish Lapland. A light snack will be served on board. Upon arrival, meet your guide and transfer to the picturesque village of Pyhä (approx. 1h 45 min), nestled in the heart of a winter wonderland. This will be your base for the adventure ahead. Once settled, you'll receive your thermal suits, essential for staying warm throughout your stay. In the evening, enjoy a delicious welcome dinner at the hotel restaurant, and get ready for what’s to come. Overnight in Pyhä.
Day 2: "Frozen Wonders & Hidden Gems" – Amethyst Mine & Ice Fishing After breakfast, we head deep into the Arctic wilderness. Our first stop: the Amethyst Mine in Ukko-Luosto, the only active mine of its kind in Europe. A unique pendolino snow train takes us up Lampivaara hill, located in the heart of the Pyhä-Luosto National Park. Here, you’ll learn about the fascinating history of the mine and try your luck digging for your own lucky amethyst to take home. Legend says these stones bring balance and calm energy. After a light lunch at a local restaurant, we journey to a frozen lake, where a local fisherman will introduce us to two ancient techniques: net fishing beneath the ice and Sámi-style ice fishing using traditional short rods. Each guest will drill their own hole in the ice and have a chance to catch perch, pike, or lake herring. Dinner at the hotel restaurant. Overnight
Day 3: "Speed, Snow & Arctic Thrills" – Snowmobiles, Ice Karting & Mini Snowmobiles A thrilling day awaits! After breakfast, gear up in your thermal suit for one of Lapland’s most exciting excursions: a snowmobile safari through stunning Arctic landscapes. Don’t worry—no gears involved, and expert guides will provide clear instructions. We’ll make a scenic stop at a cabin by a frozen lake for photos and some quiet awe. Then, warm up with a light lunch in a traditional Sámi kota, a teepee-like tent used for generations. Next, it’s time to hit the snow track for some high-speed fun with ice karting—specially designed go-karts that glide across snow and ice. Anyone taller than 150 cm can drive. Younger kids can enjoy a ride as passengers with the guide and even try driving a mini snowmobile themselves! Back in Pyhä, you’ll have free time to relax with a Finnish sauna or go skiing with a ski pass and equipment included at the nearby alpine slopes. Dinner at the hotel. Overnight.
Day 4: "Arctic Encounters & Holiday Magic" – Huskies, Reindeer & Santa Claus Get ready for one of the most heartwarming days of the trip. After breakfast, we visit a husky farm, where you’ll meet these amazing Arctic dogs and enjoy a breathtaking ride on a husky-pulled sled. Fun fact: A well-trained husky can pull up to 7 times its body weight! After a light lunch at a local restaurant, we continue to a reindeer farm, where you’ll learn about Sámi culture and experience a peaceful reindeer sleigh ride through a snow-covered forest. And now, the moment every child (and adult) has been waiting for: a private visit with Santa Claus himself! While waiting, enjoy fun snow games before sitting down for a personal chat and photo with the jolliest man in the Arctic. Each child will receive a special gift from Santa. In the evening, we celebrate with a special New Year’s Eve dinner at the hotel restaurant. Overnight.
Day 5: "Farewell, Lapland" – A Heart Full of Arctic Memories After breakfast, enjoy some free time for last-minute snow fun or souvenir shopping. Later, transfer to Rovaniemi Airport for your direct flight back to Barcelona. As you look out the window and say goodbye to the snow-covered forests, you’ll carry home memories of a truly magical start to the new year End of your #SantaClausinLapland adventure.
