From Bilbao, this is your ideal program to travel to Lapland. You will travel from Bilbao on an exclusive and direct flight to Lapland in just over 4 hours. Our destination is only 60 km from Kittila airport, which avoids a long journey to our destination. Muonio is located in the north of Finland, which guarantees perfect conditions for carrying out activities, with a large amount of snow throughout the season, so we ensure that we can enjoy all the most exciting activities and excursions in the Arctic Circle to the fullest. Day 1. Bilbao - Kittilä - Muonio
At the scheduled time, meet our staff at Bilbao airport for check-in on the direct flight to Kittilä (Finland). Your journey to Lapland begins here! Lunch will be served on board. Upon arrival at Kittilä airport, you will be greeted and transferred to Muonio, located in the north and about an hour's drive away. Muonio is situated in an idyllic environment, surrounded by the purest Arctic nature, more than 200 km north of the Arctic Circle, making this latitude ideal for viewing the Northern Lights. The hotel is also located away from urban areas, so there is very little light pollution, making it easy to see the auroras if they appear. Upon arrival at your accommodation, you will find thermal equipment that you can use during your stay in Lapland (thermal suit and boots). Dinner will be served at the hotel restaurant.
Day 2. Muonio. Visit to a reindeer farm and movie session.
We have spent our first night in Sami land. Buffet breakfast at our hotel. Get ready for a traditional Lapland experience! After a short bus ride, we will arrive at the reindeer farm, where we will feel the authentic Lapland atmosphere. Reindeer breeding has been an important activity in the development of Lapland. Reindeer are semi-wild animals that live freely in the forests of Lapland. A couple of times a year, they are gathered to be classified and counted. At the farm, the reindeer herder will have carefully selected a group of trained reindeer for the sleigh ride. When you settle into the sleigh, the reindeer will take you for a ride. We will enjoy lunch around a campfire in a kota. Kotas are typical local constructions, inherited from the ancient nomadic Sami people. Nowadays, they are also built with wood, but in the past, they were made only with logs and reindeer skins. Return to the hotel to relax. The little ones will enjoy a very special movie session in a hotel lounge. Dinner of Lapland specialties in the Aurora kota. Accommodation.
Day 3. Muonio. Snowmobile safari in search of Santa Claus and Christmas cookie master class.
After a full buffet breakfast at our hotel, our adventure for today begins. Participants will be checked for proper thermal clothing and the guides will provide driving instructions. Then, the engines start and we follow the guide on a snowmobile tour. We'll start our journey (2 persons per snowmobile) on marked paths, crossing the snowy Lapland landscapes of forests and frozen lakes. Children will travel in a sled that the guide's snowmobile will pull. We're searching for Santa Claus' secret cabin, which we know is in this area. Once we locate Santa Claus, or as we prefer to call him, Father Christmas, he will receive us privately, family by family. We can take photos and videos with him and even receive the first gift of the Christmas holidays. With the feeling of having had a great first experience in the Arctic, we return to the hotel for lunch. We'll spend the afternoon enjoying a very Finnish indoor activity: learning to cook Christmas cookies in the local style. In addition, the surroundings of the hotel are the perfect place to have fun in the snow with sleds, etc. Dinner at the hotel.
Day 4. Muonio. Arctic Multiactivities and Husky Sled Safari.
Breakfast at the hotel. Today, get ready for a truly memorable experience! In the morning, we will head to a forest location where we will enjoy different activities: cross-country skiing through snowy landscapes like the inhabitants of the north of our continent have been doing for centuries, snowshoeing to a frozen lake where we can practice ice fishing (subject to ice conditions) like the Sami have been doing for centuries. Everyone can try their luck by opening their own hole in the ice and showing off their skills with these small rods. Around the lake, there will also be toboggans and tandem-ski for the little ones to enjoy with their activity companions, with a little more physical and fun activities for them. And what they will surely value the most; they will be able to drive their own mini-snowmobile (children up to approximately 40 kg in weight). We will return to the hotel for lunch. Next, we will enjoy an incredible experience: we will receive instructions from our local instructors and guides to learn how to control the sled. In reality, it is quite easy because the dogs also know the marked path we will be taking, and we will never go too far from our guide's sled, which will be in the lead. After a long ride of approximately 6 km, we will return to the hotel. Dinner at the hotel restaurant.
Day 5. Muonio - Kittilä - Bilbao.
Last day in Lapland. After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, we will have some time to do some final activities on our trip to Lapland before heading to Levi, where we will have free time until it's time to transfer to the airport for our return flight. Levi is the name of a hill that houses one of Finland's largest ski resorts. Levi has many restaurants and places to enjoy a leisurely lunch. It also has many shops and places to stroll around and do some last-minute shopping before heading to the airport for the return flight. During the flight, we will enjoy a snack-dinner on board with drinks included. Arrival and end of the trip.
