Day 1 – The Adventure Begins: From Spain to the Frozen Heart of Magic Your dream journey begins with the thrill of what lies ahead. After meeting at the airport and being welcomed by the Catai team, everything is ready for your direct flight to Kuusamo. As you fly over northern Europe, imagine the snowy landscapes waiting for you, while enjoying a light onboard snack. Upon arrival, your guide will be waiting to take you to Rukan Salonki, a cosy lodge nestled in nature, just 20 minutes away. There, you’ll be fitted with your thermal suits—your essential gear for the magical days ahead in Lapland. Once settled in, a warm buffet dinner at the hotel restaurant awaits. Let the excitement build… because tomorrow, the magic begins.

Day 2 – Arctic Whispers: Huskies, Reindeer & Tales from the North Today feels like stepping into a winter fairytale. After a hearty breakfast, your first stop is a husky farm. The excited barks of these Arctic dogs will greet you as true northern hosts. You'll learn how to guide your sled—one of you as the musher, the other as passenger—and once you set off, the crisp air, the silence of the forest, and the soft crunch of snow under the runners will create an unforgettable experience. Back at camp, a traditional Lappish kota offers the perfect place to warm up with a hot drink around the fire. But the day isn’t over—next, you’ll journey across frozen lakes and snowy forests to a reindeer farm, where you’ll ride in a sleigh pulled by these gentle, iconic animals. Local Sami herders will share stories passed down for generations about their ancient connection with reindeer and the land In the afternoon, enjoy some free time: try the illuminated sledding hill, hop on a kick-sledge, or spin on the frozen lake in a Finnish carousel. End the day with a comforting buffet dinner at Kultala restaurant.

Day 3 – Snow’s Roar: Snowmobiles, Adventure & Skiing Beneath the Aurora It’s time for action! After breakfast, suit up again for one of the most exciting adventures of the trip: a snowmobile safari. After a short safety briefing, adults will take the wheel in pairs while children ride safely in a sled pulled by the guide’s snowmobile. You’ll race across the snow, surrounded by breathtaking Arctic scenery. A light lunch brings a welcome pause, and then the afternoon is yours: will it be a relaxing Finnish sauna… or skiing down the slopes of Ruka? Did you know Ruka is one of Finland’s most famous ski resorts, with slopes open from October to May, many of them fully lit? No experience needed—your guide will help you with lift passes, rentals, and tips. Round off the day with another delicious buffet at Kultala.

Day 4 – Beneath the Ice: Fishing, Snowshoes & Lappish Traditions Today proves that calm can also be adventurous. After breakfast, strap on your snowshoes and follow your guide through magical, snow-covered scenery to Lake Veskajärvi, one of the best spots in Ruka for ice fishing. At the lakeside laavu (a typical Finnish shelter), your guide will teach you how to use the rods, baits and the kaira—a special drill to cut through the ice. Once you’ve made your hole, it’s time to drop your line and try your luck. The lake is home to perch and pike—natural dwellers beneath the ice. A hot drink by the fire keeps spirits high before heading to a traditional Lappish kota for a light lunch. These teepee-like tents are iconic shelters of the Sami people and a glimpse into their nomadic heritage Return to your lodge for a bit of rest before the highlight of the evening: the Special New Year’s Eve Dinner at Kultala. Snow, stars, warmth and joy—what better way to welcome the new year?

Day 5 – Lapland’s Best-Kept Secret: A Private Visit to Santa Claus Today is the most anticipated day for the little ones… and secretly, for the adults too. After breakfast, you’ll travel to a hidden location near Ruka, where the forest reveals a secret world of cosy cabins and magical views. While the children enjoy the snow slides, the air begins to fill with excitement. Inside, Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus welcome you into their winter home. Bake cookies, make decorations, and share an intimate moment with Santa himself. Each child will receive a personalised gift and have the chance to chat and take photos. After this heartwarming encounter, return to Rukan Salonki for a light lunch and a relaxed afternoon. Take one last sled ride, spin on the frozen lake, or simply soak in the moment. End the evening with a buffet dinner, full of laughter and quiet reflection.

Day 6 – Farewell in the Snow: The Goodbye Sauna Your final breakfast in the Arctic marks the end of this unforgettable journey. But before leaving, there’s one last Finnish ritual to enjoy: the traditional sauna. Did you know Finland has almost one sauna for every two people—and they are a core part of Finnish life? It’s the perfect way to relax body and soul before heading home. Transfer to Kuusamo Airport, check-in, and enjoy a final snack onboard your direct flight back to Spain. With your heart full of memories, and proof that the magic of Christmas is very real… your trip to Lapland with #SantaClausInLapland comes to a close.

A journey you won’t forget… because it’s one you truly feel Lapland isn’t just a destination — it’s a place where time slows down, where the snow holds silent stories, and where magic isn’t imagined… it’s lived. You’ve shared laughter, wonder, and unforgettable moments as a family, taking home something far greater than just memories. With #SantaClausInLapland, you’ve experienced the true spirit of Christmas. And now, a piece of Lapland stays with you. Because some journeys forever change the way we see winter.

A valid car driving licence (valid in Europe) is required to drive the snowmobiles and must be carried during the excursion. All snowmobiles are covered by comprehensive insurance with a €1,000 excess, for which each participant is personally responsible in the event of an accident. Due to weather conditions (snow, ice, or temperature) and for safety reasons, excursions may be subject to changes in route, duration, or even cancellation without prior notice. When the group size is large, it may be divided into smaller subgroups in order to ensure a more comfortable and manageable experience for participants. For this reason, the timing or order of services may be altered, although the overall content of the excursion will remain unchanged. Your local guides will inform you in advance of your excursion schedules.
The organiser cannot guarantee specific weather, snow, or ice conditions required to carry out the scheduled excursions or safaris. In the event that force majeure circumstances prevent an excursion from taking place and it must be cancelled, an alternative activity will be offered, or the cost of the cancelled activity will be refunded upon return—either in full if the activity is completely cancelled, or partially if weather conditions only allow for a reduced version of the activity.
Smoking in accommodations where it is not permitted may result in heavy fines, which can reach up to €4,500 per person. Guests are responsible for the keys to their accommodation; in case of loss, a compensation fee will be charged.
