Private cabins, exciting activities for all ages, breathtaking landscapes, expert guides, and a perfectly designed itinerary.
Day 1 – The Journey Begins: Heading to the Heart of Lapland
Our adventure begins with all the excitement a trip of a lifetime brings. After meeting the Catai team at Barcelona airport and completing the check-in process, we’ll board a special direct flight to Kuusamo, located in the north of Finland, right in the heart of Lapland. Onboard, we’ll enjoy a snack as we fly toward what will soon become our magical Christmas home. Upon arrival, a local guide will welcome us and escort us to our cozy, fully equipped wooden cabins nestled in the natural beauty of Ruka. Along the way, we’ll collect our thermal suits, which will keep us warm throughout our stay. We’ll end the day with a delicious dinner at a local restaurant. Lapland welcomes us with all its winter charm.
Day 2 – Arctic Trails: Huskies and Ice Karting Thrills
After breakfast, we’ll dive into an experience that will stay in our memories forever: an authentic husky safari. We’ll learn to drive the sleds like true mushers and let ourselves be pulled by these incredible dogs, who can haul up to seven times their own weight. Did you know huskies can run over 100 km a day in extreme conditions? Their handlers will share fascinating insights before our snowy ride begins. We’ll enjoy a light lunch outdoors, followed by an adrenaline-pumping session of snow and ice karting. Anyone taller than 150 cm can drive the special karts, while younger children will enjoy riding mini snowmobiles — an unforgettable experience for all. Dinner at a local restaurant and overnight in our cabins.
Day 3 – Frozen Adventures: Ice Fishing & Snowshoeing in the Forest
Today, we’ll take part in a true Nordic tradition — ice fishing. A local fisherman will show us how to drill our own hole in the frozen lake and fish for perch, pike, or arctic whitefish. Later, we’ll strap on snowshoes and explore the silent, snow-covered forests of Lapland. The only sounds? Laughter, footsteps, and the crunch of snow beneath us. This immersive activity is perfect for both kids and adults, offering a deep connection to nature. The afternoon is free to enjoy some skiing, snow games, or relaxing in the warmth of our cabin. Dinner at a local restaurant and overnight stay.
Day 4 – Pure Nature: Oulanka National Park
An unforgettable day awaits. After breakfast, we’ll head to the nearby Oulanka National Park, renowned for its stunning landscapes and the roaring Myllykoski rapids. Our guide will share stories about local wildlife — reindeer, moose, arctic foxes — and the hardy plants that thrive in these harsh conditions. We’ll enjoy a picnic lunch by a crackling fire in the midst of breathtaking scenery. Then, back on with the snowshoes to explore more of this magical park. In the afternoon, you’ll have free time to hit the ski slopes or unwind at your cabin. Dinner at a local restaurant and overnight stay.
Day 5 – Believe in Magic: Snowmobiles, Reindeer & Santa’s Home
Get ready for a day that will stay in your heart forever. We’ll start with an exciting snowmobile safari, gliding through snowy trails until we reach a local reindeer farm. Here, the Sami caretakers will share their way of life and fascinating facts — did you know every reindeer has a name and their coats change color in winter? We’ll enjoy a tranquil sleigh ride pulled by one of these gentle animals before continuing to the day’s most awaited moment: our visit to Santa Claus. In the charming village of Vuotunki, by a frozen lake, children (and grown-ups!) will delight in natural snow slides and traditional sledding before being welcomed by an elf into Santa’s home. Inside, Santa will share stories, songs, and laughs, while Mrs. Claus teaches us how to bake her famous Christmas cookies. After dinner in their cozy home, Santa himself will personally give a gift to every child. An evening of true magic we’ll carry with us always.
Day 6 – See You Soon, Lapland: Sauna Ritual and Farewell
Our final morning in Lapland begins with a peaceful breakfast. But before we leave, there’s still time to enjoy a deeply Finnish tradition — the sauna. With nearly 2 million saunas for 5 million people, this wellness ritual is a cornerstone of Finnish life. It’s a moment of calm, reflection, and warmth before we return to the bustle of everyday life. We’ll then head to Kuusamo Airport to board our direct flight back to Barcelona. We return home with bags full of souvenirs and hearts full of memories — of joy, laughter, discovery, and the kind of magic that only Lapland in Christmas can offer.
