Santa Claus In Lapland brings you one of the novelties for this 2023, a complete program of arctic activities but this time, staying at Salla Wilderness Lodges. Comfortable igloos located on top of a mountain and with panoramic windows that offer unbeatable views. Salla is the place to breathe fresh air and observe the beauty of nature. Here you can walk in the white forest, feel the magic of the polar night and enjoy a northern lights from your igloo.
Day 1. Spain - Rovaniemi - Salla
At the indicated time, arrive at the airport with the assistance of our staff for the billing of the direct flight to Rovaniemi (Finland). Start your trip to Lapland here! Lunch on board. Assistance and transfer to Salla located approximately 150 km from the airport. Arrival in this white paradise where in 2021 the last national park in Finland was established. Salla is located in a fantastic natural environment, in one of the most virgin, intact and least populated areas in all of Europe where, due to its latitude and altitude, the first and heaviest snowfalls in Lapland are usually received. Accommodation in your igloo. The mountaintop location and picture windows present breathtaking views over a pure arctic landscape. Outside nature is part of your stay inside. All igloos are equipped with a whirlpool bath, double bed, kitchen and bathroom. The three family members have an alcove with an extra bed, while the other eight have a sauna. In our accommodation we will have the thermal suits of our size, the welcome gift pack waiting for us to use them from our arrival and throughout our stay. Day 2. Salla, Snowmobile Safari and Spa
We have spent our first night in Lapland and after having a full buffet breakfast in the main building of the complex, we are going to live a unique experience riding powerful snowmobiles through snowy forests and frozen lakes. We will discover the sensation of having a coffee or hot chocolate in the middle of a bonfire contemplating the bucolic image of Lappish nature. All this having fully equipped ourselves against the cold and having received all the safety instructions and handling of the motorcycle (it is very simple) necessary to enjoy the activity. For the peace of mind of the parents, the little ones will enjoy the snowmobile safari in a sleigh pulled by the guides' motorcycles. After this unforgettable experience on your trip to Lapland, it is time for lunch that we will have prepared at the Kiela restaurant, in the Salla Tunturi complex. For today's afternoon, after a day full of great moments, we can enjoy the Spa of the Salla Tunturi complex and relax in its jacuzzis and pools (4) with water jets and saunas (admission included). Where we can enjoy it as a family, since both children and adults are allowed to enter and you can walk from the Kiela restaurant itself. It is essential to wear a swimsuit and slippers, although if you forget in the excitement of the day, don't worry... you can rent your swimsuit there. Return to your accommodation. In the evening, buffet dinner in the main building of the complex. Maybe today we will be lucky and we will be able to see the aurora borealis from our igloo...
Day 3. Salla, Huskies sledding, snowshoeing, ice fishing, cinema and great Lappish dinner in kota
We continue to enjoy the destination and unique activities. After a powerful and necessary buffet breakfast, served in the complex's restaurant, we will start one of the most exciting excursions of our trip; a dog sled ride. Although most of the dogs are of the husky breed, you can also find other experts trained to pull the sleds, which they do with great pleasure. When the time comes and after receiving the advice to enjoy the experience safely, we will become master mushers of an authentic husky dog sled. Of course, driving a husky sled through the snowy forests of Salla is one of the best experiences you can have on a trip to Lapland. Today we will have lunch like authentic Sami, a good hot soup and grilled sausages around a bonfire in the middle of the forest to continue with traditions of the land: we will take a snowshoe ride through the snowy Lappish forest until we reach a frozen lake where we can try our luck practicing ice fishing. After a day of new experiences, we will return to our accommodation where we can rest. An afternoon of movies and popcorn awaits us, with a film for all audiences that will reveal a magical world to us. Continuing with our Lappish day, at dinner time, we will move to a wooden kota to taste a very special dinner, based on rich local products from nearby. During the evening, our Sami hosts will tell us old stories and local shaman traditions... An unforgettable dinner during which nature may give us a Northern Lights. Return to our igloo to rest and recharge your batteries for the next day.
Day 4. Reindeer sleigh, mini snowmobiles and exciting private meeting with Santa Claus
A new day dawns in Lapland full of unique moments and activities. After a good buffet breakfast, we will go to the nearby reindeer farm to learn in detail about the reindeer way of life from its Lappish breeders and we will take a relaxing ride on a reindeer sleigh through the snowy forest. During the activity, we will visit the corral where the females that are pregnant during the winter are found, as well as some calves that are not yet old enough to pull the sleds. We can feed them hand in hand and have an incredible time with them. We will enjoy lunch in a Sami kota which is a (typical Sami (Lappish) tents similar in shape to teepees or American Indian tents.) We will have the opportunity to rest in our igloo and prepare for one of the great moments of the trip that the little ones and those who are not so much are waiting for... Privately, family by family, we will travel on a snow sled carried by a guide's motorcycle to a magical place in the middle of the forest in search of Santa Claus. We will meet Santa Claus himself, we will be able to talk with him, take pictures... and enjoy a magical encounter. Our dear friend, Santa Claus, will thank our visit by delivering a gift to each child. So that the little ones are entertained until the moment we start our meeting with Santa, they will have at their disposal several recreational activities such as sleighs and snow slides, one of them being the possibility of driving small snowmobiles on a safe circuit. With so many emotions, surely we have whetted our appetite. Tonight we will taste dinner in the restaurant of the main building. Return to our igloo after a day of magical experiences to rest.
Day 5. Salla - Rovaniemi - Spain
Last day in Lappish lands. After enjoying the buffet breakfast at the complex's restaurant, we will head to Rovaniemi. Arrival at Santa Claus Village, located right on the imaginary and magical line of the Arctic Circle, where we can visit its craft and souvenir shops, send a letter or postcard from the official Santa Claus Post Office and visit the different attractions who are part of this magical world. With this visit we will be able to put the finishing touch to this dream trip. Continuation to the airport, located less than 3 km from the Santa Claus Village. Billing procedures for our direct flight to your city of origin. During the flight we will enjoy a snack-dinner on board with a drink included. Arrival and end of the trip.
