Day 1 – The Beginning of a Magical Tale: From Barcelona to the Arctic Circle Our adventure begins at Barcelona airport, where the Catai team will welcome you and assist with the simple check-in process. Then we’ll board a special direct flight to Rovaniemi, the capital of Christmas and the official hometown of Santa Claus. On board, enjoy a snack while excitement builds with every mile north. Upon arrival, the crisp Arctic air will mark the start of an unforgettable experience. Our local guide will meet us for a short transfer (approx. 10 minutes) to the cosy Scandic Pohjanhovi hotel, located on the snowy banks of the Kemijoki River. There, we’ll collect the thermal suits we’ll be using throughout our stay in Lapland. Once settled in, the evening is yours to enjoy dinner at leisure. Rovaniemi offers a wide range of restaurants in various styles and price ranges. Our guide will be happy to recommend the best spots. Overnight stay.
Day 2 – Engines and Enchantment: Snowmobile Safari Through Frozen Lands After a delicious buffet breakfast at the hotel, we’ll embark on one of the trip’s most thrilling experiences: a snowmobile safari through Lapland’s snowy landscapes. We’ll be provided with helmets and gloves and, after a short briefing from our expert guides, we’ll set off. Adults will drive the snowmobiles (two per vehicle), while children ride comfortably in a sleigh pulled by the guide’s snowmobile. We’ll cross frozen rivers and snow-covered forests, feeling the power of the machines and the serenity of Lapland’s nature. Halfway through, we’ll stop to enjoy a snack around a roaring fire: grilled sausages and hot drinks, just like the local families have done for generations. Note: This activity is reserved for children over 4 years old. If there are younger children in the group, one adult must stay with the child. In this case, a price reduction will apply (165€ per adult and 40€ per child). Free afternoon to explore the city, visit Santa Claus Village or join an optional excursion. Dinner at leisure. Overnight stay.
Day 3 – The Secret Forest: Joulukka and the Reindeer Kingdom (Optional Excursion) After breakfast, enjoy a free day to continue exploring the city, return to Santa Claus Village, or take part in an unforgettable excursion your children will never forget. We’ll travel to a secret location deep in the forest for the magical “Christmas Tale of Joulukka”. This fairytale setting is designed with extraordinary attention to detail. Elves will greet us and lead us to a traditional wooden kota with a central fire. There, we’ll attend Elf School, decorate gingerbread cookies and earn a diploma for those who complete the challenges. Outside, the fun continues with toboggans, troll dances, snow scooters and more. Finally, after one last task, we’ll be allowed into the “Secret Elf Command Center” and then, family by family, taken to the cabin where the real Santa Claus awaits. Each child will receive a special gift. The experience ends with a traditional lunch at the Joulukka restaurant and a visit to a nearby reindeer farm, where we’ll warm up with hot drinks by the fire and enjoy a peaceful sleigh ride pulled by reindeer. Optional excursion price: Adult €390 / Child (2–12 years) €340. Subject to availability and a minimum of 10 participants.
Day 4 – Galloping Huskies and New Year’s Eve Among Ice and StarsThe day begins with a visit to a husky farm after breakfast. These noble animals, carefully trained, will be eager to begin the ride. We’ll learn how to harness them and drive the sleigh (4 to 6 dogs per team), and set off on a silent run through breathtaking winter landscapes. Huskies can pull up to seven times their weight, and they do it with boundless energy and joy. A truly unforgettable experience. During the outing, we’ll enjoy a light lunch. In the afternoon, you can return to Santa Claus Village or visit the Arktikum Museum (admission included), a cultural landmark in Rovaniemi where you’ll learn about Arctic history and Sami culture in an architecturally impressive setting. In the evening, we’ll celebrate a special New Year’s Eve dinner at the hotel’s restaurant. After dinner, we’ll head to the magical “Arctic Snow Hotel”, a wonder built entirely of snow and ice: igloos, chapel, restaurant, and even a snow sauna. There, we’ll take part in the traditional Sami tin-casting ceremony to predict what the new year will bring. At midnight, we’ll welcome the New Year with an unforgettable countdown and fireworks over the snowy landscape. Return to the hotel around 00:30. Overnight stay.
Day 5 – Farewell Beneath the Snow: Final Adventures Before the Return Buffet breakfast at the hotel and one last chance to soak up the spirit of Lapland before we head home. If you wish, you can enjoy a few final hours at the local alpine ski resort, which features five slopes of varying difficulty, dedicated areas for children and snowboarders, and a special toboggan run perfect for family fun. Ski equipment is available for rent and lift passes can be purchased by the hour. At the scheduled time, transfer to Rovaniemi airport for your special direct flight to Barcelona. Arrival and the end of this incredible adventure in the northern lands.
