Traveling to Finnish Lapland is like stepping into a real-life winter fairy tale, where reindeer, snowy hills, and magical characters are part of everyday life. They say there are more reindeer than people, countless snow-covered mountains and, of course, one and only Santa Claus! With SantaClausinLapland, we invite you to experience an unforgettable journey to Lapland – a destination that blends nature, enchantment, and unique adventures. Get ready to stay in cozy dream cabins, explore postcard-worthy landscapes, and enjoy exciting excursions that will captivate both kids and adults alike.
Day 1. Spain – Kuusamo – Ruka
Your adventure begins at the airport, where our SantaClausinLapland team will be waiting to assist you with everything you need before boarding your direct flight to Kuusamo. A snack will be served on board to make the journey more pleasant. Upon arrival, you’ll meet your guide and head to Ruka, one of the most beautiful corners of Lapland, on a 30-minute transfer. Once there, we’ll collect the thermal suits you’ll use during your stay. After settling into your accommodation, a delicious dinner awaits you at the hotel restaurant. First night in Ruka – let the magic begin!
Day 2. Ruka: Ice Fishing and Snowshoe Walk
After a buffet breakfast, we’ll dive into the first great adventure: learning to ice fish on a frozen lake, guided by a local fisherman. You’ll drill your own hole, set up your fishing rod… and try your luck! Among the fish you might catch are perch, pike, and whitefish. Next, we’ll head into the snowy forest with snowshoes on – a fun and accessible activity for everyone. During the hike, you’ll enjoy a light lunch surrounded by nature. In the afternoon, you’ll have free time to explore the area, go skiing, or join an optional excursion: ice karting and mini snowmobiles. We’ll take you to a special circuit where both adults and children over 150 cm tall can drive snow-adapted karts. Younger kids can safely enjoy a thrilling ride on mini snowmobiles. Price per adult: €90 / Price per child (5 to 11 years): €60 Excursion subject to availability and a minimum group of 10 people. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 3. Ruka: Husky Safari and Reindeer Encounter
Enjoy a buffet breakfast to start your day full of energy. Today, you’ll experience a memory that lasts a lifetime: an exciting husky sled ride. Guided by expert mushers, you’ll learn how these amazing dogs are trained and cared for before setting off into the snow. After the ride, we’ll enjoy a light lunch. The adventure continues with a visit to a reindeer farm. There, Sámi herders will share stories about life with these iconic Arctic animals and invite you to take a ride in a traditional sleigh. The rest of the afternoon is yours to relax or enjoy the slopes. Ruka’s ski season extends from autumn to late spring and the pistes are usually uncrowded. Children will love the Rosa & Rudolf Family Park, accessible via a scenic gondola from Ruka Village. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 4. Ruka: Snowmobile Safari and Visit to Santa Claus’ Home
After breakfast, it’s time for one of the most anticipated experiences: the snowmobile safari! Equipped with helmets and gloves, you’ll receive a safety briefing before setting off (two people per snowmobile). While adults drive, kids ride comfortably in a sled led by the guide. You’ll travel through snowy forests and across frozen lakes, feeling the freedom only Lapland can offer. A picnic-style lunch will be served during the excursion. In the afternoon, it’s time for the most magical moment of the trip: visiting Santa Claus’ house. We’ll head to a picturesque village by a frozen lake, where you can slide down natural snow slides before meeting the most special locals. An elf will welcome you and take you to the room where Santa Claus is waiting to chat, share stories, and sing songs. Mrs. Claus will teach you her secret Christmas cookie recipe, which you’ll bake in a traditional wood-fired oven. At the end, Santa will give each child a personalized gift. Return to the hotel with your heart full of joy. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5. Ruka – Kuusamo – Spain
Enjoy your final buffet breakfast in Ruka. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have some free time for souvenir shopping, one last stroll through the village, or relaxing in the hotel’s sauna. You can’t leave Finland without trying this local tradition – nowhere else in the world has as many saunas per capita! It’s the perfect way to wrap up your trip. Transfer to Kuusamo Airport, check-in, and direct return flight to Spain, with a snack served on board. End of an unforgettable adventure in magical Lapland.
